General Summary This is an entry level position. This position will be trained by external vendors and the more Senior BioMed technicians how to maintain and repair laboratory equipment. The candidate will maintain effective communication with internal and external customers. Provide world class customer service by capturing and being responsive to the voice of the customer (including donors) through established feedback channels in order to resolve issues and drive satisfaction in accordance with the BBG customer engagement, feedback, and complaint processes. Must have a valid driver's license and be at least 21 years old with a good driving record to meet organization driving standards. Major Duties and Responsibilities Essential Tasks Work closely with the laboratory staff. Adherence to all safety, regulatory, and quality requirements. Excellent customer service [for both internal and external customers]. Respect for co-workers and management staff. Commit to and embrace the mission, vision, and core values of BioBridge Global and its Subsidiaries. Perform computer data entry. Assist in correspondence, reports, and records as needed. Maintain strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Learn how to troubleshoot laboratory equipment. Attend trainings to provide on-site service of equipment. Assist in routine maintenance of laboratory equipment. Performs skilled work on preventive maintenance, repair, safety testing, and recording functional test data. Assure timely troubleshooting and resolution associated with equipment repair. Work under close supervision of management and will assist other Biomed Technicians in performing BioMedical departmental duties. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Requires an Associate Degree from an accredited college or university in a specialized area. Licenses and/or Certifications Valid United States Driver's License Experience Requires one year experience as a Biomedical Engineering Tech/technician (BMET). Requires parts inventory management experience. Prefer experience with environmental monitoring/control equipment. Knowledge Must obtain a working knowledge of regulatory/quality requirements and perform within all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies. Must acquire a working knowledge of quality, basic troubleshooting, and laboratory systems. Skills Must maintain competency in specialty skills. Must become familiar with equipment management system (Up-Keep) Must be able to operate basic laboratory and/or other job-related equipment within the first year of employment Must be able to troubleshoot basic equipment successfully within the first year of employment Must have the capability to be a self-motivated and self-managed individual. Must be capable of operating motor vehicles in all types of weather conditions. Must have strong customer service skills. Must have experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Visio, PowerPoint and Excel. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to print and write legibly. Abilities Must be able to keep information confidential. Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Must be able to work with interruptions, meet deadlines, and perform accurate work and/or reports. Must be neat in appearance and well groomed. Must be professional, detail oriented, self-motivated, innovative, creative, assertive, organized, communicative, and have the ability to work independently. Must perform well in repetitive work situations. Working Environment Works in a well-lighted air conditioned and heated laboratory/department. May require work with laboratory and robotic instrumentation. May be exposed to electrical, mechanical and chemical hazards and other conditions common to a laboratory environment. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens and other conditions common to a clinical laboratory environment. May have bodily exposure to refrigerator/freezer temperature, especially hands and face. Will work extended hours during peak periods. May be required to work any time of the day, evening or night during the week or weekend, to include being on-call. Ability to used personal motor vehicle for company business required. Occupational Exposure Assignment - Category I Physical Requirements Must be able to drive on behalf of the organization. Will sit, stand, walk, and bend during working hours. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Required to carry up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing corrected to a normal range. Must be able to travel to remote sites 10-25% of time at work.
