Job Description

Location:

This is an onsite role, requiring the employee to work onsite at their designated office location in Desoto, Texas 5 days a week.

The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of standardized accounting procedures for the DeSoto, Texas location. They will take an active role in revenue recognition, intercompany transactions, P&L Analysis, and project-based accounting. The Staff Accountant will assist with other projects as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and monitoring intercompany accounting processes between various legal entities.
  • Assist in ensuring proper cut-off to correctly state revenue and expenses for the reporting period.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the plant accounting systems and records, as well as strict compliance to all company policies, procedures, and controls as they are being implemented.
  • Develop ERP system proficiency for both finance and other plant functions within the business.
  • Perform journal entries as needed.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Work with department leaders to analyze spending trends and reduce costs.
  • Perform project specific profitability analysis, explaining variances against the project’s budget.
  • Assist in project specific contract review and support billing as needed.
  • Assist in inventory cycle counts and quarterly physical inventories.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Finance required
  • 1-3 years of progressive Accounting experience required; manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically advanced Excel required
  • CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred!
  • Ability to take ownership of work and drive tasks to completion
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and control multiple tasks at the same time
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships across various functional areas both internally and externally
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
