Job Description

Food manufacturer in the Clyman, WI area is seeking a QC Supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Quality Control department within their manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all products meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of food safety principles, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for maintaining product integrity. Responsibilities:

  • Supervisory Leadership:
  • Supervise and train QC technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and accurate testing.
  • Schedule and assign tasks to QC personnel, ensuring adequate coverage and timely completion of testing.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of QC staff, providing feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Quality Control Operations:
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the company's Quality Management System (QMS), including HACCP, GMPs, and other relevant food safety programs.
  • Conduct and document regular inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Perform and/or oversee laboratory testing, including chemical, microbiological, and physical analyses.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all QC activities and test results.
  • Monitor and control critical control points (CCPs) to ensure product safety and quality.
  • Manage and calibrate laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of all testing, calibration, and inspections.
  • Compliance and Regulatory:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, USDA, state and local regulations).
  • Participate in audits and inspections conducted by regulatory agencies and customers.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality issues.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Problem Solving and Improvement:
  • Investigate and resolve quality-related issues and customer complaints.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Analyze data and generate reports to track quality performance and identify trends.
  • Participate in root cause analysis investigations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and other food safety principles.
  • Experience with laboratory testing and analysis.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with SQF, or ISO standards are a plus.
  • Experience in a Lab setting.
  • Strong understanding of microbiological testing.
